Donald Anthony Spielman

Mr. Donald Anthony Spielman age 86 of Celina, TN peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville, TN.

Don was born in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, October 4, 1931. Throughout his life he served in many roles: He was a retired Chicago Police Officer and Detective. Don was a romantic who loved writing poetry and he shared his writings with many. Don was a member of The Starlight Café, a poet society. Don had a heart of gold and a contagious laugh that was attached to his great sense of humor. Don took great pride in his family and work. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. And Mildred Louise (Seydel) Spielman. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Trevor Spielman and Robert Johnson, his daughter, Barbara Jean Schwartz and infant daughter and son, Misty Luann and Donald Anthony Spielman, Jr..

Don is survived by 2 sons, Ronald Spielman and wife, Rose of Boling Brook, IL and John Spielman and wife, Ellen of Tompkinsville, KY; 1 daughter, Dawn Zdzairski and husband, Glen of Chicago, IL; 1 brother, Fredrick Johnson and wife, Lucille of Goodyear, AZ; 2 sisters, Marie, also known as Pat, Head and husband, Bill of Moss, TN and Glynis Douglas and husband, Melvin of Baxter, TN; son-in-law, Dan Schwartz of Lake Wales, FL; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
